Doors: Aren’t They Fascinating!

We walk through them hundreds of time a day, lock them, unlock them, slam’em, break ‘em, bolt them shut, knock on them and simply open them! Our doors, wherever we go, wherever we are, doors, darlings, doors! Aren’t they fascinating? Yes! Have a closer look! I did. Over the years I have seen thousands of doors all over the world, and sometimes I remembered to capture their uniqueness or beauty, elegance or inviting appearance. I love doors.
So let me share my images with you, hoping you will start to stop and look closely. On your way to work, riding your bikes, sitting on the bus, walking through your neighborhood. Stop and look and enjoy. I just spent 10 days in Philadelphia, more or less spending my entire time Southwest of Rittenhouse Square, between Walnut, 23rd St, South and 18th Street. If you are in the neighborhood, dont look straight, look sideways and enjoy all the marvelous doors, darling fellows out there.
By the way, here I am standing in front of the entrance of the Theosophist United Lodge on Walnut Street in Philadelphia.
I thought
the door was closed
as close a door can be
not a movement
in sight
behind the door
not a single clean tile
in front
on the floor.
I tried to guess about the owner
by looking at the door
was she a woman
of high taste
because it was not
painted in haste
or
a man loving his dame
who did’nt fell right
to write her name
maybe
a tribute by a son
to his mom
who had gone
beyond the realm.
People had come and
people had gone
but the door held on
its ground
protecting whatever was around
and yet
asking all passers by
to stop, look and see
for
they also serve who stand close.
